Starting care and appointments
The practice provides outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management for ages 6–65. Complete required intake forms and consents at least 24 hours before your initial appointment, or by the earlier deadline communicated to you. If required paperwork is incomplete, the appointment may need to be rescheduled. Notify the practice promptly if you cannot attend. Any applicable cancellation or missed-appointment terms are provided in your financial agreement before care; this page does not create a new fee.
The free 15-minute introductory call is for general questions and fit. It is not a clinical evaluation or treatment visit.
Telehealth
For a telehealth visit, be physically located in Virginia, use a private space and have a reliable connection. The clinician will confirm your identity, current location and a way to contact you if the connection is lost. Do not join while driving. Tell the practice if you will be outside Virginia. Telehealth may not meet every clinical need; an in-person evaluation or another level of care may be recommended. Telehealth risks, alternatives and consent are discussed through intake.
Messaging and medication requests
Use the secure messaging service designated by the practice for non-urgent clinical questions. Email and public website features are for administrative matters. Messages are reviewed during practice working hours and are not continuously monitored. If a concern cannot wait, seek appropriate urgent or emergency care.
Medication refills require clinical review and appropriate follow-up. Request them before medication runs out and provide the medication, dose and pharmacy through the designated secure channel. A pharmacy refill request does not replace an update about symptoms, response and side effects. Do not change doses without your clinician’s guidance.
Stimulant treatment generally requires follow-up at least every three months, with earlier visits when clinically indicated. Controlled medications are prescribed only when clinically appropriate and legally permitted; a specific medication or refill is not guaranteed.
Children, teens and confidentiality
The practice involves parents or caregivers when appropriate while respecting the patient’s privacy and applicable consent and record-access rules. Bring relevant custody or guardianship documents when requested. Consent and confidentiality questions are addressed individually under Virginia law. Coordination with schools, therapists or other clinicians follows applicable privacy requirements and authorization procedures.
Scope of care
The practice does not provide treatment for psychosis/schizophrenia, eating disorders or substance-use disorders, court-ordered evaluations, or emotional support animal letters. If your needs fall outside the practice’s services or require more intensive care, appropriate referrals or another level of care may be recommended. Emergency or crisis services are not available here.
Insurance and self-pay
Confirm your specific plan, network participation, coverage and expected copay, deductible or coinsurance before care. Insurance information on the website is general and does not guarantee claim payment. Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted. The current self-pay rate is $250 per session; confirm charges and any additional separately billed services before scheduling. Billing arrangements and payment responsibilities are explained in your financial agreement.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have insurance or choose not to use it, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for scheduled non-emergency care. Request one before scheduling or when arranging your care.
- For visits scheduled 3–9 business days ahead, the estimate is generally due within 1 business day of scheduling.
- For visits scheduled 10 or more business days ahead, it is generally due within 3 business days of scheduling.
- An estimate requested before scheduling is generally due within 3 business days.
The estimate is not a bill or a requirement to receive care. It describes expected charges; additional unanticipated care or separately scheduled services may affect costs. Keep a copy. If a provider’s bill is at least $400 more than that provider’s estimate, you may qualify for the federal patient-provider dispute process. A dispute generally must be started within 120 days of receiving the initial bill. Learn more through CMS medical bill rights or call 1-800-985-3059.
